What is CB Connect?

CB Connect is Capital Bank’s complete online banking solution. There is no need to install, download, maintain or upgrade any software. It's easy to use and takes full advantage of the online security built into today's most popular Web browsers — America Online®, Microsoft Internet Explorer®, Netscape Navigator™, Firefox® and Opera®. When you bank with CB Connect, you'll enjoy the convenience of real time banking, including checking balances, transferring money and paying bills 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! With CB Connect, your account information is always safe and up to date! Combined with the optional Bill Pay feature, CB Connect makes it easy to manage all aspects of your financial life.

How much does CB Connect cost?

CB Connect is a free service for Capital Bank clients when you use it to perform basic banking functions. All checking account clients are privileged to unlimited transactions for free.

Note: The bill payment option may be terminated after 120 days of consecutive inactivity.

What are the hardware and software requirements for CB Connect?

To use CB Connect, all you need is a browser with 128 bit encryption, such as Netscape Navigator™ (version 6.0 or higher), America Online® (6.0 or higher), Internet Explorer® (6.0 or higher), Firefox® (1.0 or higher) or Opera® (6.0 or higher) and any computer that accesses the Internet.

How secure is CB Connect?

CB Connect is secured using 128 bit SSL encryption. This encryption level is compatible with Netscape Navigator™ (version 6.0 or higher), America Online® (6.0 or higher), Internet Explorer® (6.0 or higher) Firefox® (1.0 or higher) or Opera® (6.0 or higher). If you are in the secured site, depending on the browser, either a small key or padlock will be highlighted. For more information on site security or the privacy policy, please click the security button present at the bottom of all CB Connect screens.

How do I sign up for CB Connect?

Signing up for CB Connect is easy. To enroll in this free service, visit our homepage and under CB Connect Online Banking, click on Enroll Now. You will then be required to accept the Online Banking Agreement and Initial Disclosure. After accepting the agreement and disclosure, you will be taken to the first time login page. Once you fill out your information and complete the first time login, you will be ready to do your banking online for free! What if I can't see the entire CB Connect screen?

CB Connect is best viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. To check your screen resolution, follow the steps for the appropriate operating system:

Windows 95 or better

  • Minimize or Exit all applications
  • Right click on your desktop away from any icons
  • Choose properties from the pop-up menu
  • Click on the settings tab
  • Change the desktop area to be 1024 x 768 or higher and Click OK
  • Windows will resize your desktop and ask if you should keep the settings. Click OK. Please note that some of the icons will be smaller.

Macintosh OS version 9.0 or better

  • Exit all applications and choose Control Panels / Monitors
  • Select the Resolution to be 1024 x 768
  • Click OK to accept the new settings

Are the User ID and Password case sensitive?

Yes. If you type your new user ID and password in all lower case letters, you will need to always type your user ID and password in lower case. Be careful of the CAPS LOCK under the TAB. It is a very easy mistake to press the CAPS LOCK and then quickly lock yourself out of CB Connect.

What should I do if I cannot access my CB Connect account?

If you cannot access your CB Connect account, please do one of the following:

  • Email customerservice@capitalbank-nc.com.
  • Call customer service at 800.308.3971 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday or from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday.
  • Call or visit your nearest Capital Bank branch.

A Capital Bank associate will work with you to resolve the issue. Capital Bank associates can only assist with CB Connect issues, not personal computer or Internet connection problems.

What accounts can I access using CB Connect?

Using CB Connect, you can access all of your Capital Bank accounts including checking, savings, certificates of deposit and loans. You must be a signer on the account to be able to access it online.

What account details can I see using CB Connect?

Depending on the type of account, details include:

  • Current and available account balance.
  • Transaction history including ATM transactions, debit card purchases, deposits, transfers and withdrawals.
  • Statement information for the current and previous month.
  • Interest information including the current rate and the amount paid for the current and previous year.

How do I transfer money from one account to another using CB Connect?

There are two different types of transfers available: a pre-scheduled transfer and a one-time transfer.

1. A pre-scheduled transfer includes the transfer from account, transfer to account, amount, transfer date and scheduled interval. The transaction will be automatically repeated at every scheduled interval without any required user intervention.

2. A one-time transfer includes the transfer from account, transfer to account and amount. The transfer will take place on the next business day after the transfer is created. The transfer can be verified by checking the account balances using CB Connect.

What are the recommended versions of Quicken or Microsoft Money?

The versions that provide the best integration with CB Connect are Quicken 2001 and higher and Microsoft Money 2000 and higher.

How will I use CB Connect with Quicken or Microsoft Money?

The Export Transactions button allows your account information to be exported for use in an Excel spreadsheet or a financial management program such as Quicken or Microsoft Money. To export your account:

  • Click the MY ACCOUNTS button.
  • Click on the account that you wish to export transactions from.
  • Click on the TRANSACTIONS button to view transactions.
  • Click on the EXPORT TRANSACTION button.

After the EXPORT TRANSACTION button has been pressed, you will be asked to select a file type and date range. The six possible file types are:

  • Comma Separated Value (.csv): This format is used to interface with Excel.
  • Intuit Quicken (.qif): This format is used to interface with Quicken versions prior to 2005.
  • Microsoft Money (.ofx): This format is used to interface with Microsoft Money.
  • Intuit QuickBooks (.iif): This format is used to interface with QuickBooks versions prior to 2005.
  • Intuit Quicken (.qfx): This format is used to interface with Quicken versions 2005 and higher.
  • Intuit QuickBooks (.qbo): This format is used to interface with QuickBooks versions 2005 and higher.

When you have correctly selected the file format and date range, click on the EXPORT button. The file will be exported and will need to be saved to the directory that you have chosen and from there may be imported into the application of your choice.

How should I log out of CB Connect?

To exit or log out of CB Connect, click the LOGOUT button. While you are logged into CB Connect, you have an online session running on our bank's host computer system. By clicking on the logout button, you are properly closing your connection to the host system and helping to insure that your next login will be successful!
