Capital Bank Kicks Off Coats for the Children Campaign

to collect winter coats for local children begins across Triangle

Raleigh, NC - Nov. 20, 2008 - For the fourth consecutive year, Capital Bank is supporting the Salvation Army as a sponsor of the 20th annual WRAL-TV Coats for the Children campaign. The campaign is a Triangle-wide effort to collect warm coats and other outerwear for local children and families in need this winter.

Capital Bank will collect coats at Triangle-area branches including Raleigh, Cary, Clayton, Morrisville, Wake Forest, Oxford, Sanford, Siler City, Pittsboro and Zebulon. In addition to clean or new coats, Capital Bank is asking the public to donate other winter clothing items, including gently used gloves and hats, new long underwear, t-shirts and socks to completely outfit a child for the winter months.

"In a year that has seen so much hardship, the support provided by partners like Capital Bank allows us to make the holiday season a little brighter for families across the Triangle," said Christine Shaw, director of social ministries for the Salvation Army of Wake County.

Since 1989, the campaign has collected more than 103,500 coats and raised over $1 million to provide winter clothing for Salvation Army families. On Friday, Dec.12, WRAL-TV will broadcast a day-long "Coats For The Children Telethon" where Capital Bank associates will staff the phone lines.

"We are asking everyone to share the warmth of giving this holiday season," said B. Grant Yarber, president and CEO of Capital Bank. "This seemingly simple cause is vitally important to all of us and I'm sure the Triangle will once again come through with tremendous support for these families."
