Capital Bank's Founder Receives Highway Honor

Lee County Business Leader recognized by DOT

Raleigh, NC - March 13, 2008 -Oscar Keller, Capital Bank founder and one of Lee County's most prominent businessmen, was honored Thursday in a dedication ceremony by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The DOT elected to name a segment of the new U.S. 421 bypass the Oscar Keller Jr. Highway in honor of Keller's dedication to the community of Lee County.

"It's rewarding to see the state recognize someone as influential as Oscar in such a prominent way. Capital Bank is proud of our founder and we know Oscar's generosity and contributions to the business community will continue for a long time," said B. Grant Yarber, president and CEO of Capital Bank.

In addition to his efforts with Capital Bank, Keller is the president and CEO of Parkview Retirement Center in Sanford. He was highly involved with the endeavor to coordinate the new bypass, a $110 million project, and it was because of his work that the Sanford City Council and Lee County Board of Commissioners approved separate resolutions last year to honor Keller with the highway naming.

Lyndo Tippett, NCDOT Secretary, Cornelia Olive, Sanford Mayor and Robert Brown, Chairman of Lee County Commissioners all spoke at the event. The residents of Lee County came out in full to support Keller and created an impressive standing-room only crowd at the McSwain Extension Education and Agriculture Center in Sanford. Many Capital Bank and state government personnel were in attendance to honor Keller, including Yarber, Senator Bob Atwater and Representative Jimmy Love.
