Capital Bank Supports Burlington Housing Authority
Donation will finance after-school and scholarship programs

RALEIGH, NC – July 18, 2007 - Capital Bank today announced a donation of $5,000 to support the Burlington Housing Authority’s Graves, Reid and Sangal Performance Scholarship (G.R.A.S.P.S.) program. The program provides financial assistance, mentorship and counseling to public housing residents of the Burlington Housing Authority.  Capital Bank’s donation will support after-school programs and the funding of scholarships that can be used to assist with tuition, books and other school related costs.

In addition to receiving aid through donors such as Capital Bank, G.R.A.S.P.S. will be holding its third annual gala fundraising event on Saturday, July 21. The gala will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the ECCO Center—Ebenezer Church of Christ in Burlington. The theme of the event is “Evening of Fashion Elegance and Dinner” featuring host Melissa Wade of 103.9 The Light, a Christian radio station in the Triangle.

“In the two years since G.R.A.S.P.S.’s inception, we have helped 16 students fulfill their educational dreams, and we are confident the program will continue to expand with the help of supporters like Capital Bank,” said Ernest Mangum, Executive Director of the Burlington Housing Authority.

Special acknowledgment will be given to Capital Bank at a luncheon as well as a recognition dinner for donors in August.
